COURSE OUTCOMES
The course aims to provide students with the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to provide interior design solutions taking into consideration aesthetics, function, marketing, manufacturing, marketability and construction of products, materials and environments for the benefit of the user.
OCCUPATIONAL AREAS
On successful completion of the course graduates may enter the industry in a freelance capacity as owner/manager of a small business or as a designer/manager in a design practice.

Modules are often packaged and offered in different forms to coordinate and cater the needs of students. Each module specifies nominal hours and may be adjusted for individual student group needs.
MEMBERSHIPS / AFFILIATIONS
Negotiations with the Design Institute of Australia are underway to allow graduates to apply for associateship.
ARTICULATION & CREDIT TRANSFER
Student successfully completing the Diploma of Arts (Interior Decoration & Design) or other Design courses at OPIE will be eligible for entry into this course with credit transfer. Graduates of this course will be able to apply for entry into other related undergraduate studies in Interior Design or Architecture at OPIE. Since this is a National curriculum, students will be able to start the course in one State and complete it in another State, with no loss of credit transfer for the Modules completed. Students who successfully complete the Advanced Diploma of Interior Design may also be eligible for internal transfer to the Bachelor of Architecture Degree offered at OPIE.
